Ideogram vs. Nano Banana Pro: Which AI Image Tool Handles Text Better?
By Lisa Peyton and her team of AI super heroes
If you create social graphics, carousel covers, or quote cards, one question matters fast: which AI image tool actually gets the text right?
I recently ran a simple head-to-head test comparing Ideogram and Nano Banana Pro on one of the hardest image-generation tasks for content marketers: rendering a polished design with multiple layers of readable text.
The test
I used the same prompt in both tools and asked each one to generate a LinkedIn carousel cover slide with:
- A large all-caps headline
- A subhead
- A footer line with my name and website
- Clear editorial hierarchy
- A clean, premium B2B marketing look
This is the kind of task content marketers deal with all the time when creating:
- carousel covers
- webinar promo graphics
- quote cards
- title slides
- branded social posts
What Ideogram did best
Ideogram produced the better-looking design overall.

Its output felt more refined, more modern, and more like something a real designer might create for a polished LinkedIn carousel. The hierarchy was strong, the spacing felt intentional, and the overall composition looked premium and editorial.
Where it stumbled was strict prompt fidelity. It changed the headline from all caps to title case and also capitalized the website differently than requested.
So while the graphic looked more professional, it was not perfectly literal.
What Nano Banana Pro did best
Nano Banana Pro was more accurate with the text itself.

It preserved the all-caps headline correctly, kept the footer URL in lowercase, and followed the wording more exactly. If your top priority is getting the copy rendered precisely as written, Nano Banana Pro performed better in this round.
The tradeoff is that the final design felt more generic. It looked more like a templated conference flyer than a premium branded content asset.
The takeaway for content marketers
Here’s the practical conclusion:
Ideogram wins on design polish. Nano Banana Pro wins on exact text compliance.
That means the right tool depends on the job. Doesn’t it ALWAYS!?
Use Ideogram when:
- the visual quality matters most
- you want something closer to publish-ready
- you’re creating brand-forward social graphics
Use Nano Banana Pro when:
- exact wording matters most
- capitalization and literal text accuracy are critical
- you’re testing text-heavy layouts where compliance matters more than style
My recommendation
For content marketers, this is not really an either/or decision. It’s a workflow decision.
If you need a graphic that looks polished fast, start with Ideogram.
If you need to pressure-test text accuracy, especially on text-heavy designs, Nano Banana Pro is worth keeping in the mix.
The bigger lesson: when evaluating AI image tools, don’t just ask which one makes the prettiest image. Ask which one performs best on the kinds of branded content assets your team actually needs to ship.
Because for marketers, text-in-image rendering is not a nice-to-have. It’s the job.
